Proper windshield replacement - a matter of life.
The difference between a properly installed and a poorly installed windshield can be the difference
between life and death. The wrong adhesive, insufficient hardening of materials, or improper auto glass replacement procedures
may leave passengers vulnerable during a crash. "A windshield does more than just protect you from wind, rain and debris,"
says Basin Glass & Aluminum. "It helps save lives by preventing the driver and passengers from being thrown from their
car during a crash. If their car rolls over, the windshield also helps support the roof." If the windshield is dislodged from
the vehicle frame during a crash, the passenger side air bag cannot work properly. Also, the structural strength of the vehicle
might be reduced. The windshield and back glass are structural components of your vehicle. If properly bonded to the vehicle
frame with an OEM-approved adhesive, they provide anywhere from 25 to 40 percent of the structural integrity and strength
of the vehicle. Urethane adhesive is what holds the auto glass in place. It must be both strong and flexible to withstand
the sudden and violent forces of a crash.
